2017 Budget

2017 Budget

We worked very hard this year to properly balance services while upholding our fiduciary duty of fiscal responsibility. That is a valuable local government quality to be expected at every level of government. We started out promising responsible spending and we have reached our goals. One important savings to point out is the amount we are saving having refinanced the bonds. With Trustee Valvo’s leadership and the support of this Board we managed to save over $100,000 per year. We plan on continuing to meet or exceed expectations every year we are working for the residents.

The current leadership was able to achieve many things with the 2016 budget (Our first one since being elected).  Some examples are:

  • Substantial updating and improvement to Village Hall

  • A revamp of the Building and Fire dept, with more improvement to come

  • Substantial improvement and support for zoning and planning

  • A new Village attorney

  • Introduction of new laws and clarification of old ones in an effort to preserve the suburban community that we live in.

  • Execution on promised road work for 2016 and continued improvement in 2017

We would like to thank the staff as they have had to handle a lot during this administration transition.  Without them, the services expected by the residents would not exist.

In our efforts to foster transparency, here (village-of-airmont-2017-preliminary-budget-combined) is the Village of Airmont’s tentative 2017 budget. Keep in mind that this is strictly preliminary and the Board is not done allocating funds. While there is more discussion to be had, we still expect a 0% increase overall.
